• Rheumatology refers to the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases. Rheumatology focuses mainly on clinical problems involving joints, soft tissues, autoimmune diseases, vasculitis, and connective tissue disorders.   Many of these diseases are now known to be disorders of the immune system


    • Symptoms vary greatly depending on the joint/area of the body affected.  They range from muscle pain and fatigue to severe joint pain, swelling, and stiffness.


    • Treatments for Rheumatic disease vary depending on a patient’s specific condition.  Typically a patient will be treated with any and all the following classes of medication depending on the severity of their disease: NSAIDS, joint injections/aspirations, immunomodulatory agents, DMARDS, and biologics.
